Dave McKinley is a registered patent attorney in Minneapolis who has focused his career on helping start-up companies establish robust patent portfolios that both attract larger companies interested in acquisitions and repel potential competitors.  Since 1998, he has written and successfully prosecuted hundreds of patents through the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Dave enjoys assisting clients with invention development, with a mind toward both infringement risk minimization as well as product efficacy and manufacturing feasibility. David's practice is largely focused on, but not limited to, medical devices.

David has extensive mechanical experience he acquired during his nearly seven years serving as a Surface Warfare Officer in the United States Navy. Prior to his commissioning, he earned his degree in Industrial Engineering from Iowa State University.  While serving, he earned his law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law.
